HIFY
Media Workshops HIFY has been dedicated to teaching youth media-making
skills for over 15 years. In a world where we are surrounded by media constantly,
we need to be able to analyze the messages that are impacting our values and beliefs.
(At HIFY) We believe that youth are the strongest agents of change, and by giving
them skills to create their own media, we're equipping youth to be peer educators
for the rest of their lives.

is Digital Storytelling? Digital Storytelling: The
modern expression of the ancient art of storytelling using media for education
and social change.
What does the workshop series include?
Free workshops for San Francisco youth 12-24 of all genders, sexualities, classes,
races, religions, etc.
Make a digital piece with your own story as poetry,
spoken word or hip-hop
Real, raw, it's all about you, your life, your
thoughts, your dreams and your knowledge
Learn basic video editing &
voice recording including garage band, Imovie, and Idvd.
Leave with
your own video on DVD to show your friends and community
We can incorporate
Positive Sexuality, Substance Use and Harm Reduction, Body Image, or our other
workshop topics into the series.

Zine Making: Back to the Basics
HIFY's oldest media making series is still available for groups!
While
digital media is becoming a staple for day to day communication, printed media
can still be a powerful tool for educating many quickly and inexpensively.
What
is a Zine?
Zine: a self-published booklet or magazine, produced
by one person or a few individuals for education and social change.
What does the workshop series include?
Free workshops
for San Francisco youth 12-24 of all genders, sexualities, classes, races, religions,
etc.
Make a group or personal zine with your own story, poetry, art,
op-ed pieces.
Real, raw, it's all about you, your life, your thoughts,
your dreams and your knowledge
Learn basic writing, editing, and layout
skills
Leave with your own copy of your zine (and knowledge of how to
reproduce it!)
We can incorporate Positive Sexuality, Substance Use
and Harm Reduction, Body Image, or our other workshop topics into the series.
